About this Campsite

Pak Tam Au Campsite is a great spot for those who enjoy a more remote and rugged experience, with about 70-80 parking spaces available. However, be prepared for a challenge as it's not exactly easy to get there, and some reviewers found the lack of privacy among campers and limited flat ground for pitching tents to be a bit of an issue. On the bright side, the campsite is surrounded by beautiful scenery, with reliable water supply and stunning views - just don't forget to take your trash home!

Introduction

This site is situated inside the Sai Kung East Country Park. Natural topography is surrounded by lush green woodlands. One can observe birds flying and even building their nests nearby aloft the branches. Ngau Wu Tun, a hotspot for nature photographers is not far from the campsite.

Highlights

Pak Tam Au - A popular starting point for hiking activities as well as the start of MacLehose Trail Stage 3. The Pak Tam Au Village is next to the campsite which is an ideal site for training orienteering skills.

How to Get There

From Sai Kung Bus Terminal take Bus 94 or take Bus 96R from the Diamond Hill MTR Bus Terminal on Sundays and statutory holidays to Wong Shek, or take Minibus 7 (Hoi Ha) at Sai Kung minibus terminus. Get off at Pak Tam Au stop. Trace the second stage of MacLehose Trail towards Chek Keng. After a brief 10 minute walk, one will be able to see the campsite entrance on the right hand side. Follow the steps up the path and after an easy 10 minute stroll, you will be at the campsite.
